Homeless Programs Development of Affordable Housing
In collaboration with the City of Lynchburg and Miriam's House, LNDF administers the Lynchburg Shelter-Plus-Care program through which 10 households can receive rental assistance (subsidy for rent) in excess of 30% of the tenant's income). Participants must be considered homeless, have a documented disability, and must cooperate with necessary services. LNDF secures the housing and Miriam's House provides services. Funds are received through the Supportive Housing Program.
LNDF was awarded $412,000 from HUD's Supportive Housing Program, along with matching funds from the State, to provide 10 units of affordable rental housing for disabled homeless persons and families. Two buildings in Lynchburg have been acquired and will be renovated for the project, called the Cornerstone. The partners are LNDF as owner/developer, Miriam's House as service provider and Community Housing Partners Corp (CHPC) as property manager.
