Homeless Program Development of Affordable Housing
In collaboration with the City of Lynchburg, LNDF administers the Lynchburg Shelter-Plus-Care program through which 10 households can receive rental assistance (subsidy for rent) in excess of 30% of the tenant's income). Participants must be considered homeless, have a documented disability, and must cooperate with necessary supportive services. LNDF works with participants to find and secure the housing.  A clinical social worker provides services. Funds are received through HUD's Supportive Housing Program.
LNDF was awarded $412,000 from HUD's Supportive Housing Program, along with matching funds from the State, to provide 11 units of affordable rental housing for disabled homeless persons and families. The funds were used to purchase and renovate 2 apartment buildings. This project is known as Cornerstone. LNDF operates and manages the units. A clinical social worker provides supportive services to the residents. |
